Can I Move Pictures From A Cell Phone To An Ubuntu Pc

I am using a Dell computer, with Ubuntu Studio, on my PC. My cell phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3, with Android. I have never worked with either before. I have only used the iPhone 3G and Windows Explorer, and therefore can’t figure out how to download one to the other.

I have tried so many ways of trying to solve this problem. I should have written everything down but didn’t of course. Also, I explored the Internet. On YouTube there are some instructions, but I must have a different version than what was shown. Also, I downloaded a program that allows certain programs to be downloaded to my PC, or to Linux based software but it pertained to videos. Was I on the right track?

The error messages that come up, say that I have input the wrong information into the terminal.
