One professional Call of Duty players has given the new Modern Warfare 2 some incredibly high praise. On June 1, Call of Duty pro player Attach, who plays for Minnesota ROKKR, said that he had the chance to play the game year and that he thinks it will be the best Call of Duty of all time. Needless to say, that claim takes in some serious real estate, as there have been multiple Call of Duty games that have earned widespread critical acclaim and are generally considered to be landmark game releases.

The original Call of Duty game made major innovations in the FPS space, while Call of Duty 2 launched alongside the Xbox 360 and brought the main series games to consoles. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare completely changed the face of online multiplayer gaming, with the franchise more or less following that blueprint ever since. To say that the 2022 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is going to be the best Call of Duty game is a huge claim, and it will be interesting to see how the community reacts to the game.

Shortly after Attach made this claim, other users chimed in and pointed out that he made similar statements about Call of Duty: Vanguard last year. Last year, Attach said that after seeing one minute of Call of Duty: Vanguard in action that it was the best CoD of all time. This time around, Attach has actually played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for himself before making the claim, but his claim about Vanguard may still throw his opinion in doubt for those who are wondering how the new CoD is going to turn out.

Call of Duty: Vanguard earned mixed reviews from critics and is in fact the lowest-rated main series Call of Duty game released to date. The mixed reviews and apathy from fans also meant that Call of Duty: Vanguard had relatively low sales for a Call of Duty game, and it’s generally considered to be a low point for the franchise. There’s a chance that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will turn things around and take the series to new heights, though that remains to be seen.

The big Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reveal is happening on Wednesday, June 8 at 10am PT, and the game is also expected to be featured at Summer Game Fest on June 9. Fans will have a much better idea of what to expect from this year’s Call of Duty after this week, but they still won’t be able to make a final judgment call until they play the game for themselves later this year.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
