Some Reddit users in the thread are claiming that this glitch has been part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare since the game’s launch. Although the bug is rarely seen, it has provided an advantage to some players allowing them the opportunity to claim flags early or rack up starting kills. This is not the first time that a glitch has survived into later patches, but many users are wondering when Infinity Ward will repair this problem.

Active players have noticed that the ability to skip pre-game countdowns is prominent in multiplayer modes with no discernible pattern. The impact of this glitch is dependent upon the game mode it appears in. For example, in Team Deathmatch it would only allow players a few extra kills, but in Search and Destroy players are able to run and place the bomb before the countdown has reached zero. For many, losing the game before it has even started shows just how impactful this small bug can be.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has gained a reputation among its fans as being “broken” with tons of exploits and bugs still within the game. Although this glitch is being considered a funny random event by the game’s community, other bugs have been more impactful in the past. It was not long ago that there was a glitch making players invincible in Warzone. Although neither that glitch nor the ability to skip the pre-game countdown has been purposefully replicated, the random chance that it could occur can impact an entire game.
Infinity Ward announced its zero-tolerance for cheating early this month and is now matchmaking cheaters into the same lobbies. If a player were able to recreate the glitch on a consistent basis, then they would promptly be banned from the game or paired up with other suspected Modern Warfare cheaters. In the glitch’s current state players are randomly able to gain this exploit, but this has raised some concern among the games’ community. Although nobody has been banned for this bug as of yet, fans worry about the impact of the zero-tolerance policy and the ever prominent glitches found within the most recent Call of Duty release.
All the community can do to try and remove this glitch from the game is to continue to report bugs that are discovered and await a patch from Infinity Ward. Till then, fans continue to find fun ways to use this glitch in non-harmful ways by running through the map or placing sprays. The community seems to have no intention of cheating, causing this bug to have a low impact on the game itself.
