In terms of the recent release Modern Warfare 2, players have already come across plenty of hidden references and Easter eggs. In fact, the Modern Warfare 2 campaign has plenty of call backs and nods to other games in the franchise, including a tease at the return of the villainous Vladimir Makarov. Players have also been scouring the game’s multiplayer components for other hidden items and while some have been found already, a recently added on in celebration of the new year has just been uncovered.

With the turn of the new year, Infinity Ward has also updated the available cosmetic bundles inside of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 store. One of these bundles, called the New Years Tracer Pack, gives players two new weapon blueprints for the Lachman-556 assault rifle and the .50 GS handgun as well as charms, tracer rounds, and stickers. However, the bundle also includes a hidden element that players have begun to discover.

Over on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 subReddit, a user known as TNT_Jonathan posted a couple of screenshots after discovering that using these weapons can also display messages in an enemy’s bloodsplatter. After killing an enemy player near a wall, the blood splatter was formed into a ‘23 and on occasion, it would also display a “HAPPY NEW YEAR” message in blood. Others in the comments section indicated that other bundles can have similar features such as the M13B weapon in the Season 1 Reloaded Klaus bundle which had a rare chance of spelling Naughty in blood.

The discovery joins the already growing list of Easter eggs found within the latest Call of Duty release. Warzone also has a number of interesting secrets that many fans may have simply missed or walked past while playing. This includes a hard to find Golden Skull at the shipwreck southwest of Sariff Bay, a reference to Verdansk which can be seen on an armband for Nick Reyes, as well as a heart locket that can be acquired in DMZ belonging to the sister of Raul Menendez.
